FOGGY DAY..BUT LOTS OF TRAFFIC

It was foggy, but a bit of traffic. The Horizon Star departed for off shore. The Maersk Clipper arrievd, and the Polar Prince departed heading for the grand banks, the Polar Prince is the former Sir Humphrey Gilbert built in 1959.

HC BEAU LUNA

The cargo ship Hc Beau Luna arrived in St. John's July 12, 2019 and tied up at pier 17 and departed at 1500hrs July 12, 2019. The ship was built in 2000,  is 129 meters and a gross tonnage of 6,382 and has two cranes, mounted on deck. The ship is managed and owned bu IMM Ship management in germany. Former names, Tatjana until 2003, TMC Brazil until Nov 2002 and Tatjana until 2002/

Another arrival from the weekend

Arriving as well over the weekend is the supply vessels Atlantic Merlin. The Merlin was arriving from the searose. The ship was built in 2014,.

The Louis is back

Arriving today is Canadas largest icebreaker, the Louis S St. Laurent arriving from Quebec after being on refit after the winter. She will be heading North Aug 1, 2019

Nice Yacht

Today the Sycara V arrived from Halifax. The vessel is 1,566 gross tons, built in 2010, 68 meters  (223 feet) long. It is powered by 2x caterpilliar, generators 3x caterpillar , total; power 4400. This vessel can best leased for $562.500 a week in the summer and $485000 in the winter.

Heading North

Sunday saw the departure of the CCGS Capt Molly Kool depart St. John's heading to the Arctic for the first time. Saturday the CCGS Terry Fox departed heading to the Arctic. Other icebreakers will be leaving but not until later.

Flanders goes on trials, and the Edward Cornwallis arrives

The provincial ferry Flanders departed jun 21, 2019 for trials just off St. John's. The vessel is having some trouble.

The CCGS Edward Cornwallis arrivied St. John's Jun 21, 2019 , from on patrol. The Cornwallis is based in Dartmouth.

Returning from Trials

The CCGS Captain Molly Kool, as shown arriving in St. John's June 17, 2019 returning from trials off St. John's. Was waiting for the Sir William Alexander to leave.




Astron on the move

The coastal freighter Astron arrived in Lewisporte Jun 16, 2019 from St. John's. The Astron is carrying a load of Equipment to Goose Bay that is needed for the upcoming shipping season. The Astron is a true workhorse, built in 1971, she has worked the Labrador Coast for years. Whats next for the Astron I wonder.

THE SURVEY SHIP THE HI YANG SHI YOU 760 DEPARTING ST., JOHN'S ALONG WITH THE POLAR PRINCE, AND HEADING TO A SURVEY AREA OFF THE TERRA NOVA FIELD.
THE POLAR PRINE IS THE FORMER SIR HUMPHREY GILBERT, BUILT IN 1958 AND BY THE LOOKS OF HER SHE HAS HEALD UP QUITE WELL.

SHIPS, SHIPS AND MORE SHIPS

BAY BULLS WAS A BUSY SPOT, THE RAMFORM TITAN MOVED OUT TO GIVE ROOM FOR THE BBC MAINE, THE THOR FREJYA WAS IN, ALSO OUT IN THE BAY WAS THE STRAIT HUNTER., DUE THE NEXT DAY WAS THE RAMFORM ATLAS.

THE RAMFORM TITAN AND ATLAS ARE 70 METERS WIDE AND AND 104.2 METERS LONG, THE ARE SIESMIC VESSELS, THE ATLAS WAS BUILT IN 2014 AND TITAN WAS BUILT IN 2013

Saturday Traffic

This past Saturday saw the tanker Acadian depart for Come by Chance. The Acadian, built in 2005 in South Korea it measures 23,356 grt, it is owned by FB tankship a part of Vroon and it is charted to Irving. The Acadian is candian flagged, aloong with the East Coast, which was called the Nor'easter, they mostly handle the canadian ports.

The fishing vessel Suvak, owned and operated by the Arctic Fishery alliance departed St, John's May 25, 2019 and headed north. The ship built in 1987 at Pictou Industries, and is 28,53 meters and is 625 horse power.

A Recent Trip to Lewisporte

A recent trip to Lewisporte, the Northern Ranger is there, apparently for sale. She is in need of paint. I spotted two fishing vessels Northern Enterprise and Ocean Glider.

A wide ship...visitis Bay Bulls

The sismic ship, RAMFORM TITAN, shown in these photos in Bay Bulls. The ship is 70 meters wide and 104 meters long, was built in 2013.  A very interesting ship.
