The Black Watch. and Ocean Adventurer

The cruise ship  BLACK WATCH, it arrived on Friday morning and left for Halifax that evening.  The ship was launched in 1971, it measures 583 feet and a passenger capcity of 820 passengers.

Friday after saw the OCEAN ADVENTURER, arrive and stayed till Saturday, where she is now heading to Hungrey. The ship measures 100 meters, built in 1975 and has a gross tonnage of 4,617

CCGS ATLANTIC EAGLE

This past week, they were busy painting the Atlantic Eagle into coast guard colors, getting ready to take up new role on the west coast, along with the Atlantic Raven, as emergency towing vessels. It is a 3 year contract worth 67 million.

The older Marco Polo

The second year in a roll, the Marco Polo visted St. John├Ęs this past week

. Not like the modern cruise ships, this ship is a classic. She is 176 meters, 22,080 gross tons and built in 1965, and passenger capacity of 820. The  ship departed in mist and fog.

The old and the new

Saturday I was able to photograph tje CCGS HARP arriving, the Harp was built in 1986 in Georgetown, she is 24.5 meters long. Coming up behind her was the new PENNANT BAY, launched in 2017, in service 2018, measures 19 meters long and top speed 25 knots.

Star Pride visits

The small cruise ship STAR PRIDE visited St. John's Aug 31, 2018, the ship departed mid afternoon for L'ance aux Meadows. The ship was built in 1988, and measures 133 meters long. (photos taken by my wife)
