Back Again

Stormbound in Lewisporte

Last weeks visit to Lewisporte had the Astron in port stormbound due to high winds. Around for quite a while, built in 1971 she is a true veteran to the Labrador coast.

The Weekend continued,

Today Monday Oct 9, 2017, the Supply Vessel Maersk Clipper after the Clipper  was the Atlantic Heron, and close behind was the Grand Manan Adventure, which just completed a refit. The Grand Manan Adventure is 86 meters long, and gross tonnage of  6,000, a real nice looking ship. Also on dry-dock was the Siem Honne, this pass weeked she is being painted into secunda colors.

Weekend Activity

This pass weekend saw the cargo ship MC Eva-Marie arrive, built in 2007, she measures 7.878 tons and 146 meters long.

TThe Atlantic Heron shifted berth, also in port was the Horizon Star, the Atlantic Kingfisher, Atlantic Osprey, Maersk Nascopie, Maersk Norsman and Maersk Detector.

Salt boat arrives, Beaumont Hamel in for work

A new arrival for Lewisporte, the Argentia Desgagnes arrived Oct 6, 2017 with a load of salt., built in 2007, it measures 119 meters, and a gross tons at 6,369. The ship was aquired by Desgagnes this year.

Also in Lewisporte is the ferry Beaumont Hamel, the ship is in to have an alternator installed, bulit in 1985, the ship has been on the Fogo Run with the Veteran (photos taken by my father)

The last big visit for year

Monday saw the arrival of the Norwegian Jade, a very large ship at 294 meters, and gross tons at 93,558 tons. There is sstill one more arrival but this ship is not as big.

Another tug for dry-dock

 The Atlantic Cedar shown on dry dock getting a new paint job. The tug is 30.8 meters long, gtoss tonnage 400, and built in 2005.
