Legionnaire finally on the run

The new ferry Legionnaire started its ferry run today, on the Portugal Cove -Bell Island Run. The ferry was to have started earlier, but delays in wharf upgrades delayed the ship. Built in Romania in 016, she measures 80.9 meters, 4,459 GT

The Norwegian registered excursion veseel Spitsbergen paid a visit to St. John's earlier this week. The ship relatively small, is 97 meters long

The Siem Pilot departed im Secunda colors heading to Terra Nova, she is replacing the Burin Sea. The Burin Sea with Trinity Sea has a contract off Nova Scotia. Atlantic Shrike departed, along with the Cape Roger, and the Atantic Raven arrived.

Heading to Terra Nova

The Skandi Neptune, an offshore construction vessel departed St. John's July 21, 2017 heading to the Terra Nova field to install mud flaps, each matt weighs around 1000 tons each. The mud flaps are used as a blow out preventer.

The Skandi Venture is 7,941 gross tons and is 104.2 meters long.

Weekend Report

This past weekend was busy with lots of traffic. The ships I was able to photograph was the French research vessel , built in 1990, she headed to Saint John, NB. Secunda's new ship the Seim Pilot departed for trials today, this is a big vessel, 88 meters long and built in 2010, she is not fully painted in Secunda colors.
The shallow draft tug supply vessel Arcticaborg arrived, she will be used in the western and central Arctic doing ice escort, towing operations, lightering operations. The ship has a gross tonnage of 1,453 and is 65 meters long, this is according her her coasting lincence.

The cruise ship Insigna arrived and departed today, the ship built in 1998 is 181 meters long, she departed for Greenland

Secund's new ship, the Siem Pilot arrived St. Jjohn's today July 12, 2017 from Norway. The ship was built in 2010 and is 88 meters long.  (below phots taken by my wife)

Testing the Bubbler

The Henry Larsen was in the harbour yesterday July 5, 2017, looked like they were checking the bubbler in prepreation for its Arctc trip.

Ocean Endeavour in and out

The expedion vessel Ocean Endeavour arrived July 5, 2017 at 0800hrs and departed at 1800hrs. The ship was launched in 1981 and is 451 feet long, has capacity of 450 passengers and 90

to 100 crew

Another tug for dry-dock

 The Atlantic Cedar shown on dry dock getting a new paint job. The tug is 30.8 meters long, gtoss tonnage 400, and built in 2005.
