Toisa Proteus...big ship...Wheels, Arete and Strait Signet small and IT Intrepid

At the waterfront Aug 27, 2016, was the Toisa Proteus, a multi purpose offshore vessel, built in 2002, she is 131.7 meters and a gross tons of 8402. Also in were the yachts Wheels and Arete, and in now for a while was the Strait Signet.

Activity at Lewisporte

This past week Lewisporte seen a lot of ship traffic. The NANNY was first to arrive from up north, loaded and headed back. Then it was the TRAVESTERN, the HAVELSTERN and the STEN FJORD. The big tanker AFRODITE arrived after being at anchor off Loon Bay. (photos taken by my father)

Flintstone and other ships

Today, the pipelaying vessel Flintstone arrived and went to take fuel. The ship was built in 2011 in Singapore, and measures 156 meters.

And in port for a while now is the Coriolis II, a former coast guard ship, now a research vessel. She was built in 1990, she is 50 meters long and is 4800 horsepower, and her gross tons measures 836.

Also the yacht Arete was in, an absolute beautiful ship, she 144 feet long and was built in 2014, check the following link for photos,

Greenpeace, Wheels II, supply ships, Tugs and research vessel

Today was busy with the IT Intrepid arriving and her chase boats, the Lois M and Beverly M1. The Ramform Sterling and her chase boats the Strait Signet and Strait Explorer came in earlier. The Arctic Sunrise a Greenpeace vessel arrived. The 17 foot Wheels II departed for a cruise, that is the small tender with the yacht Wheels. The supply base had 6 ships tied up there, including the Atlantic Raven, Atantic Eagle side by side.

Last weekend I was able to photograph a beautiful boat apparently owned by the Rick Hendrick the owner of Nascar according to VOCM
The vessel is valued at 32 million, it is 164 feet long. It has 6 staterooms, 3 sun decks and 3 wet bars, she was built in 2009 by Trinity Yachts, max speed of 19 knots, she is twin screw and is 4500 horse power

Another tug for dry-dock

 The Atlantic Cedar shown on dry dock getting a new paint job. The tug is 30.8 meters long, gtoss tonnage 400, and built in 2005.
