This past Saturday June 25, 2016 at Long Pond saw the Evans Spirit owned by Mckiel Marine offloading cement, also still there in lay-up was the Maersk Cutter, a sad sight a brand new ship not being used, due to the downturn in the oil industry
Saturday June 25, 2016 turned out to be busy with the supply vessel Atlantic Raven heading to the Terra Nova Field and the survey vessel Atlantis arriving. The Atlantis is flagged American and is 83 meters long, also arriving was the Skandi Chieftain.
The Greek flagged Minerva Virgo made it the third big arrival for Woodwards Oil in Lewisporte. The ship was built in 2006, measuring 183 meters, and 28,960 gross tons. It offloaded some in Lewisporte and then headed to anchorage in Loon Bay.
The Panamian flagged tanker Prince 1 arrived Lewisporte June 17, 2016 and docked at Woodwards Oil to offload. The ship built in 2006, she measures 170 meters, and a gross tonnage at 24,996. After discharge in Lewisporte the ship went to Loon Bay, and now she is headed to Houston for orders. The following photos taken by my dad
The past weekend saw the cable layer Nexans Skagerrak arrived, she will lay cable for the Musrat falls project in Labrador. The Sten Fjord departed St. John's for Loon Bay, where she will start operations for the Woodward Group, and the Oceanex Sanderling arrived from Halifax sporting new paint, she got while on refit in Gibraltar.
This past week saw the Greek flagged Hellas Explorer arrive Lewisporte docking at Woodwards Oil. The ship spent a few days anchored off Loon Bay offloading to the smaller tankers, Havelstern, Nanny and Travestern to make her light so she can dock in Lewisporte
The ship was built in 2008, is 183 meters long, has a gross tonnage of 29.968, she then departed for New York.
Today the excursion vessel Ocean Endeavor arrived and left at 1800hrs, the ship was launched in 1981, she is 451 feet and can carry 450 passengers. She is due back again June 19, 2016 after she visits Sable Island and St. Pierre.
The Sten Fjord is the new ship for the Woodward group, she is 145 meters long and grt of 8,882, she replacing the Dorsch which according to marine traffic is on its way to Gibraltar. The tanker is currently tied up at the dockyard dock, which makes it hard for photos.
