Two Different Ships

This past week saw the ALP WINGER and SKANDI CHIEFTAIN in port. The ALP WINGER arrived in port for a few days after towing the rig Henry Goodrich back to Newfoundland, the MAERSK DETECTOR made the trip as well

, and the SKANDI CHIEFTAIN arrived with what looked like survey gear on its stern, it has since left and headed to the gulf.

Busy Friday

Today was a busy day at the waterfront. I was finally able to get a photo of the STENA CARRIER arriving from Montreal. Right on her heels was the MAERSK DETECTOR arriving from the rig Henry Goodrich which just arrived, later in the morning the ALP WINGER departed for the Azores, this ship towed the Gooderich.

Maersk Clipper arrives

The supply vessel MAERSK CLIPPER arrived in St. John's April 24, 2016 and tied up to take fuel. The ship was built in 2014 in Chile, it measures 84 meters, and is rated at 15000 horsepower.

Back from Germany, Navy visits, departing Lewisporte, repairs again

The tanker HAVELSTERN arrived St. John's April 16, 2016 from Germany. The ship was built in 1194 and is 161 meters long, was purchased by Woodward Group in 2011 from Rigel shipping of Germany.

In for a weekend visit is the HMCS Goose Bay, a coastal defense vessel, built in Halifax and commissioned in 1998.

The ferry CAPT EARL W WINDSOR departed Lewisporte April 14, 2016 heading for St. John's where she will under go repairs and refit and then take over from BEAUMONT HAMEL on the Fogo run, the BEAUMONT HAMEL is currently on the Fogo run replacing the problem plagued VETERAN.

The Trenching Support Vessel Calamity Jane

The CALAMITY JANE arrived in St. John's early today. She is 139 meters, gross tons at 10,643 and built in 1978 and flies the Maltese flag.

The ship along with the AUDACIA a pipe layer, will lay pipe for the Hebron Field, the Audacia went to Argentia.

Easter Trip to Lewisporte

This past Easter I went home to Lewisporte to visit family. I also went a board the Bond and took some photos inside the ship, she is still looking good despite her age.

Another tug for dry-dock

 The Atlantic Cedar shown on dry dock getting a new paint job. The tug is 30.8 meters long, gtoss tonnage 400, and built in 2005.
