The new hero class Coast Guard Vessel G Peddle departed St. John's this morning heading for Goose Bay, Ladrador.
The ship was welcomed officially to the coast guard on July 3, 2014. It is the 5th of nine ships to join the fleet. The ship is named after coast guard chief officer Gregory Peddle, who lost his life Oct 15, 2014 1989, when their fast rescue craft overturned in the attempt to rescue a diver. The Peddle is 43 meters long (140 feet), and a top speed of 25 knots (46 km/hr, 29 miles/hr
