A Strange looking Visitor

The Leonardo Da Vinci, a cutter suction dredger arrived in St. John's today June 17, 2014. The vessel is quite different then what we normally see here. It is 127 meters, and is 5,760 gross tons, built in 1985.
A cutter suction dredger are mostly stationary and cut soil according to pre-set profile, meaning the vessel does not sail during dredging activities, it uses a rotating cutter head to loosen the material in the bed.
