Sir Robert Bond to head to Labrador

The Labrador ferry the Sir Robert Bond departed St. John's around 1900hrs Nov 26, 2011 after a long refit and headed to Lewisporte, Newfoundland. The Bond should arrive in Lewisporte this evening Nov 27, 2011 where loading will start right away to get a back log of freight shipped to Labrador before the winter freeze.

The Bond will assist the Astron and Northern Ranger.

Vega Desgagnes Visits

The tanker Vega Desgagnes visited St. John's Nov 20, 2011 berthing at pier 17 and later moving to pier 18. The tanker built in 1982 is 141 meter's long.

Desgagnes tankers usually visits St. John's bring in I do believe Mud oil to be used in the offshore.

Wellservicer takes fuel

The Dive vessel Wellservicer as shown in St. John's Nov 20, 2011. The Wellservicer has been operating off Newfoundland since the summer working at the Hibernia Oil Field. The ship built in 1989 is 103 meter's long.

Lots of Supply Vessels

There were lots of supply vessels in port Nov 20, 2011. In the following photos is the Maersk Challenger seems to be waiting for its next assignment. The Burin Sea is tied up alongside, it serves the Terra Nova Field. Also the Atlantic Osprey was anchored in the harbor, the reason being the Salarium was in unloading salt, so there was no room at the base. Other supply shipa in were the Maersk Norseman, Atlantic Hawk, Maersk Chignecto.

Salarium makes another visit

The self unloader Salarium arrived in St. John's early this morning (Nov 20, 2011) with a load of salt. This is the second visit this year for the Salarium with salt which was to arrive Nov 19, 2011 but weather caused the ship to seek shelter from winds

Toei Maru No. 15 in port

The Japanese fishing vessel Toei Maru no 15 was in St. John's Nov 1, 2011 for fuel and supplies. According to Mac Mckay's shipfax she was i Halifax Jan 2011. The ship was built in 1988 and has a gross tonnage of 660.

A visit from Nanny

The tanker Nanny visited St. John's Nov 1, 2011. Owned and operated by the Woodward Group, the Nanny spends most of her time in the Arctic bringing fuel and oil to Arctic communities. The ship built in 1993, is 117 meter's long and has a gross tonnage of 6,544.

VSL Centurion in port

In St. John's for the last two and a half weeks is the cargo ship VSL Centurion registerd in Panama. The ship built in 1987 is 186 meter's long and has a gross tonnage of 17,599.
I'm not sure what she was doing in port, but it there seems to be some work being done on the ship. She is pretty large with her bow lines strung across the dock I had to drive under them to get a photo.

Another tug for dry-dock

 The Atlantic Cedar shown on dry dock getting a new paint job. The tug is 30.8 meters long, gtoss tonnage 400, and built in 2005.
