Marine Atlantic's other new ferry the HIGHLANDERS shown tied up in North Sydney, Nova Scotia.
The Highlanders (Former Stena Traveller) and Blue Puttees (Former Stena Trader) were both modified in Germany at the Lloyd Werft yard, and had the same work done. They were shortened by 12 meter's, they had a bow ramp added with clam doors, there was a second stern ramp added, and the existing stern ramp was modifed, a third bow thruster was added. There was an expansion of superstructures to accommadate 31 new crew cabins, and construction of three lounges with reclining seats for 1000 passengers, and a new bar for each lounge. There were also new elevator and new staircases added to each ship
