The STATE OF MAINE visited St. John's arriving June 12 and departing June 15, 2009. The STATE OF MAINE is used as a training vessel for the Maritime Acadamy and is owned by the US Maritime Administration, Department of Transportation. The ship was built in 1990 and is 499.83 feet long. She was used after hurricane Katrina to provide living quarters for oil rig workers who were working to repair damaged rigs.
